Presentation of the organisation:
The AMECASCAIS, Agência Municipal de Energia de Cascais (Cascais Energy Agency) is a non-profit public organisation created under the context of the Environmental Municipal Strategy to which the Local Authority of Cascais is committed to develop, implement and promote in the Local Council.
The main objective of Cascais Energia as an association is to contribute for the promotion and awareness towards the use of energy from renewable sources, promotion of energy efficiency and the rational use of energy among the different sectors of civil society living in the Municipality of Cascais contributing for the reduction of CO2 emissions and therefore to reduce the climate change impact of the Municipal activities. On a broader sense the Municipality through this Local Energy Agency hopes to contribute for the sustainable development of the region.
The Agency Cascais Energia will aim to bring awareness through innovative initiatives promoting also the public participation, also to develop competences and knowledge through innovation and business development, within this scope the Cascais Energia recognises the sector of Energy as one important sector with a great scope for investment on a entrepreneurship perspective in the Municipality of Cascais, and will also play an important role in supporting any technical issues and advising in this field.
The potential for Intelligent Energies in the Municipality is great, and the Cascais Energia together with the Local Authority of Cascais are committed to develop investments in projects to reduce the energy consumption, increase the use of energy from renewable energy sources, stimulate new investments in projects of renewable energy, energy efficiency and energy management and to promote the rational use of energy.
Actions implemented in the field of building performance:
Projects and activities developed by Agência Cascais Energia:
Project 1 – Project for the remote energy consumption monitoring and management in all municipal buildings in Cascais; implementation of energy consumption reduction measures.
Project 2 – ‘Jornadas da Energia’ (Energy Week); Event with conference, debate, renewable energy workshops for local schools’ pupils, renewable energy exposition.
Project 3 – Domestic programme for energy diagnosis – ‘Watts Buster’
Project 4 – Cascais Solar, Promoting Thermal Solar in Cascais
Project 5 – Energy certification for municipal buildings – challenge for promoting the energy consumption in public buildings and raise awareness of those who use those buildings.
