Kryvyi Rih is a city in the Dnipropetrovsk province located in the center of the Ukrainian Crystalline Massif, in the steppe zone and at the confluence of two rivers - Inhulets and Saksahan. The first written mention of it is dated by 1775.
Kryvyi Rih occupies 430 sq. km and has 667,9 thousand inhabitants.
The city is a major industrial center of the Kryvyi Rih Iron-Ore Basin, the main resource base of the Ukrainian metallurgy. Besides, this area is rich in brown coal, marble, dolomite (40% of the Ukrainian reserves), roofing and talc schist, minium, ochre, medicinal bitumen, mason's sand, loam, scandium, vanadium and 40 more chemical elements of the Mendeleyev’s table.
Industry of Kryvyi Rih is represented by 90 production plants of iron-and-steel, engineering, chemical, printing, light and food industries, production of building materials etc.
Actions implemented in the field of building performance:
Actually, special Program on energy efficiency in Kryvyi Rih for 2010-2015 approved by the City Council in 2010 is under implementation. Energy audit of 485 public buildings has been already performed. By the end of the current year all the public buildings will be equipped with the heat, water, electricity and gas meters, 2.9 thousand sq.m of the energy-efficient windows and doors as well as 11 automatic heat control devises will be installed. Also the project Renovation of the heating system and installation of the heat control assemblies in the municipal clinical hospital No 2 approved by the City Council in 2010 is being implemented in Kryvyi Rih.
