Actions implemented in the field of building performance:

Since 1998, extensive measures have been taken to redevelop the office and school buildings belonging to the district of Coesfeld. These measures concerned the building envelopes as well as the engeneering services. Great importance was attached to the use of energy-saving materials such as windows with a low heat transfer coefficient. In regard to the technical engeneering services obsolete heating installations were replaced by modern gas firing systems. In the main office building the complete electrical and IT-harnessing was renewed and is now controlled by an EIB (European Installation BUS)system.

Furthermore, the students of the technical vocational colleges have participated in a project to develop ideas to save energy in their school buildings. For the future, a campaign is be plannend to sensitize the employees using the office buildings how to achieve an economical consumption of energy.
