Carpi is a town in the Province of Modena, Emilia-Romagna, laying in the North-central Italy . Its economy, once based on the agriculture of a well-watered land, is now that of world-renown capital of knitwear and dress fashion.
The city centre pivots around Piazza Martiri, an impressive (as the third largest square in Italy) renaissance open space dominated by the brick walls of the middle-age Castle of Pio Family.
One wing of the Castle hosts the Monument - Museum of the Deportee, linked to the concentration camp of Fossoli which was managed between 1943 and1945 in the outskirts of the city.

- Development and implementation of a Sustainable Use of Energy Urban Master Plan.
- Testing of LED luminaries in Public Lighting,
- Use of High-efficiency heating plants and Renewables (Natural-Gas driven cooling equipments, Condensing boilers, when possible coupled to Thermal Solar, Geothermal Energy) in Municipal buildings,
- Use of low-impact devices (electric bikes, CNG-fuelled cars) for municipal mobility.
